I'm not usually given to public rants...but a recurring topic seems to be rearing it's ugly head within the jewelry making communities...some folks choose to call it "Plagiarism".
Initially, I would like to suggest that if anyone is afraid of someone being inspired by your jewelry designs and possibly replicating or using an element in a design of their own...don't post your work on public forum boards. Most forums are about sharing what you know, inspiring others to learn what you have to offe…

In February of this year I put up my first items for sale (online) in my dormant Etsy shop. I had opened the Etsy selling account in October of last year and was just unable to move forward with the listings...it has been revealed to me that this is not at all uncommon. I would equate it to a case of pre-nuptual jitters, cold feet, the moment of truth...faced with the possibility of failure I was immobilized.
After just a week or so, a forum buddy of mine saw one of the items I had listed in the…

News Flash!! “Nude” is the new “hot” and sexy “color” – look for it to show up in womens fashions in the coming months, both as daytime and evening wear.
Speaking of color, recently I read an interesting article on our color “sense” and how we react to different colors.
Of course, colors mean different things to different people, but in general certain colors suggest a particular mood or feeling (warm vs. cool, for instance). This applies to everything from clothing and accessories to the colo…

Yesterday, after listening to a week's worth of buzz on Billy Joel's "Last Play at Shea" concert to be played last evening, I was lucky enough to get tickets for my husband and I to take part in a little bit of music and Shea Stadium history. This is the last concert ever to be performed at Shea before it is demolished at the end of the baseball season, to be replaced by a new stadium being completed next door.
When I decided I was going to attempt to get seats, I called my husband to ask if he…

Hello, my name is Billie and I'm a newbie. I'm British (a Londoner) and am mama to two young daughters - Daisy 4 and Ruby 2, and wife to James. I'm a full time mum and glass artist.
I'm not sure yet whether I'll run a blog on here as well as at my usual spot - which can be found at
www.glassbybillie.blogspot.com
but we'll see. There are not enough hours in the day for young children, hot glass and too many blogs.
Anyway, hope you take a look around my page, and at my photo's.
Thanks…

I have been a big fan of Etsy for some time now but have always said, "oh, I'll get my own website up, so I won't need to set up shop there". I have always had the privilege of word-of-mouth, face to face customers, so when the website got put off because, I was busy fulfilling those orders, then I got married, then I moved, and had a baby...I realized Etsy would be a good way to easily broaden my audience base and get my feet wet again with internet sales. It has been 8 years since I naively st…

Hi everybody, I have started up a webpage for lampworkers to share photos and information regarding all the different types of glass we use... what colours go good with, what they react with, all that. It is organized by glass manufacturer and then by colour. I'm inviting all lampworkers to come and contribute to this project!
It's located at

Because those bills are not about protecting the little guy, ie, you and me. They are about making the big guys even richer than they already are.
Don't believe me? Well, read on.
A friend has done some srious digging, this took mere minutes for her. I can only imagine what she'd find if she really looked. I have permission to crosspost and I highly suggest you do the same.
Spread the word, tell as many people as you can, artists and non artists. Get angry and go out there and do something ab…
